The Lord Jesus Christ warned His disciples before He
left the earth that there would come perilous times in which false cults
and false Christs would arise. They are all with us today. A multitude
of pagan beliefs masquerading under pious exteriors are deluding people
and leading them into darkness and eternal death. The followers of these
faiths are incessantly busy seeking to win others to their deadly beliefs.
We must be informed regarding them so that we can expose
their evil fallacies and falsehoods.
The Lod's words to His
disciples were: "And they shall say unto you, see here; or see
there: go not after THEM nor follow THEM." (Luke 17:23).
And again, "Take heed that ye be not deceived:
for many shall come in MY Name, saing, I am Christ, and the time draweth
near go ye not therefore after them." Luke 21:8.
Martin Luther said that it was the duty of a shepherd,
not only to feed his sheep, but to defend them. The Bible, as we might
expect, is full of warnings against False Prophets.
Lord Jesus Christ said, "Beware of False Prophets
which come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly they are ravening
wolves." And again, "There shall arise False Christs and False
Prophets and show great signs and wonders, in so much that if it were
possible they shall deceive the very elect." Matthew 7:15-20; 24:24-25.
Apostle John said, "Beloved, believe not every
spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God, because many False
Prophets are gone out into the world." 1John 4:1; 2 John 7,11.
Apostle Paul said, "The Spirit speaketh expressly
that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith giving heed
to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils."
1Tim 4:1.
What is a Cult?
"Cult" '' is a religious group with
teaching and practices that are abhorrent or harmful to society''. It
is a religious system that deny the essential fundemental teachings
of the Word of God. Many these days appear to be teaching the right
truths from the Bible; yet by closer examination, one can know the error
and see the rejection or perversion of the basic Scriptural doctrines.
Cultists interpretation and teaching is always unbalanced.
It takes some Scriptures and ignores, or twists others. Usually the
followers of cults are drilled in their special interpretations, and
have no freedom to be taught by the Spirit of God. If you can get a
cultist away from his narrow one-line of teaching, he will be lost for
arguments.
No Scripture should be taken out of context, and no
doctrine may be built on a single text. The testimony of Scripture as
a whole is necessary.
We will be dealing with some of the popular cults and
false teachings, to enlighten the people as well as to warn one and
all against such, on this page.
