The Living Bread (John 6)

1.The Need of the Bread: (v5):
-Bread for physical hunger-for everybody since Adam: Gen. 3:19.
-People are made with a spiritual appetite-"bread for soul"- "the bread of life"

2. The Identity of the Bread: (v48) The Lord Jesus said: "I am" that Bread.

The Qualities of this Bread:

1. The Uniqueness in Origin: (vs 33, 41,50): from heaven, unlike the earthly bread. He is the Bread of Heaven.

2. The Living Bread: (v51): Not a packaged loaf, no inert ingradients stored. It's moving, speaking, healing and teaching. He lives forever- giving life wherever He goes. Sustaining spiritual life.

3. Satisfying Bread: (v 35): 'Never hunger or thirst again'.- filling bread-once for all. Continually feeding on Him Sufficient. No need for any other things to feed upon. He alone satisfies.

4. Available Bread:(vs 35, 51b): If 'any' man eat- whosoever- open for all. Available for all- meant for all.
Isaiah 55:2. Everybody ought to know.

5. Preserving Bread: (v 51b): 'shall live forever'. It's eternal because of Jesus who is not temporal. Thse who consume last for Eternity, because it gives eternal life.

6. Expendable Bread: (v51c): The earthly bread is consumed and is no more in it's form- becomes life itself. So Jesus gave His body and lives in us.

7. Spiritual Bread:(v63): Not literal, material bread. It's the spiritual consumption, receiving of Jesus into our life. Feeding upon Him spiritually. Finding our source of strength, life, sustenance and satisfaction in Him.

* Can be had by faith- by believing in Jesus- it's very simple.

* But people rejected. You can only lead, present the bread to people, can't make them to eat. It's a choice-either you accept and be saved or reject and perish forever.

* Taste and see that the Lord is good: Psalms 34: 8.
